LASU 2014/2015 1st Semester Examination Date Announced

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> This is to inform all students of the Lagos State University (LASU) that a new date for the 2014/2015 first semester examination have been fixed by the school management.<br /><br /> Proudlygist.com grapevine gathered that the 2014/2015 first semester examinations will commence on Wednesday July 25 and end on Tuesday August 4, after the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.<br /><br /> The semester would end on August 25.<br /><br /><br /> It would be recalled that students of Lagos State University (LASU) protested the postponement of their examination.<br /><br /><br /> The institution had earlier postponed the examinations because of inability of some students to register their courses on time. The development angered students who barricaded the Lagos/Badagry expressway to register their displeasure.<br /><br /> But after an emergency meeting of the institution’s Senate at the weekend, the first semester examination will now commence on Wednesday July 25 and end on Tuesday August 4, after the Eid-el-Fitri celebration. The semester would end on August 25.<br /><br /> The second semester has also been scheduled to begin on August 31 and end on December 29, with examination to be held between November 23 and December 4, 2015.<br /><br /><br /> In a statement signed by the varsity’s management last week, it stated that statutory ratification of the academic calendar by the Senate, which was needed to give the exercise the required legal backing could not be done due to the blockade of the Senate building since March 16, by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Universities (SSANU).<br /><br /><br /> The university management also claimed that the non-payment of school fees and late registration by many students, despite several appeals also made production of the examination dockets impossible.<br /><br /><br /> But in another statement issued by the Students’ Union President, Adeyemi Wasiu Onikoro, on July 6, the students’ body described the postponement as “destabilizing, draconian and demoralizing.”<br /><br /><br /> According to him, “postponement of examination indefinitely because of students’ inability to pay is like killing a mosquito with (a) sledge hammer or giving a dog a bad name so as to hang it. The students’ union deems it fit to ask this particular question that, whose responsibility is it to convene or to ensure that Senate sits to perform its lawful duty? Is it that of the students? If this question is answered in the negative, then the students’ union finds this particular reason baseless.”</div>

Skuki to tour Nigerian universities with Olamide, Phyno, Lil Kesh, Kiss Daniel, others

The tour, billed to kick off at the University of Ibadan, will see the group perform at major universities across the country with their celebrity friends. There will also be guest performances by Olamide, Phyno, Kiss Daniel, Lil Kesh, Vector, Black Magic, Runtown, Zeez, Boj, Falz The Bahd Guy, Skales, May D and others. We are Scrapping Post-UTME Soon - JAMB [img]http://www.360nobs.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/jamb.jpg1_-640x431.jpg[/img] The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) , Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, has delivered a statement on the post-UTME exams conducted by higher institutions. According to Ojerinde, the post-UTME will soon come to an end with the introduction of CBT Mode in UTME. The Professor further disclosed that with the introduction of CBT, examination malpractice as well, will be completely eradicated with time. If we recall, Post-UTME test was introduced because of the level of malpractice that trailed the UTME examinations in the past. However, the JAMB boss is of the opinion that when examination malpractice in UTME is completely eradicated with the introduction of CBT there will definitely be no need for post-UTME in higher institutions.
